Special from Speed51.com – Bill Burba started the year with a World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing championship at New Smyrna Speedway.  Now, he has a guitar from Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway to add to his collection.

Burba took the lead from the outside of the front row on the opening lap of Saturday’s 50-lap Modifieds of Mayhem feature in the Music City and led the rest of the way to score the victory at the historic Tennessee short track.  In victory lane, Burba showed some emotion as he held the coveted guitar trophy in his hands for the first time.

“The car was really good,” said Burba.  “My guys were awesome.  They give me a car every week to win one.”

Along with his World Series title, Burba is also a race-winning car owner in both the Winchester 400 (2016) and the Snowball Derby (2019) with Travis Braden behind the wheel, and Team Platinum has enjoyed plenty of success this year with Kody Swanson behind the wheel in Late Model competition.  Burba will now be able to add the Nashville guitar alongside those accomplishments.

“Especially to get a guitar, you know?  We’ve got. Dery win, we’ve got a Winchester 400 win, now we’ve got a Nashville win.”

The win also gives Burba the outright points lead in the Modifieds of Mayhem tour after entering the night tied with Johnny Walker for the top spot.  However, that’s one thing Burba isn’t worried about in June.

“That’s alright. There are five races to go, I ain’t worried about that.”

William Skaggs finished second, unable to pass Burba on a green-white-checkered restart to close out the evening after firing strong from the fourth position.  Ricky Moxley finished third, with Augie Grill and Cody Stickler rounding out the top five.

The next Modifieds of Mayhem event is slated for July 9 at Five Flags Speedway as part of an open-wheel celebration of speed at the Pensacola, Florida half-mile, which will also include Winged Sprint Cars in action.

Meanwhile, Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway will return to action on July 16-17 in a big way.  Racing on Friday, July 16 will feature local divisions, while Saturday, July 17’s card will include the season finale for the Camping World SRX Series as well as the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Masters of the Pros 150.
