(Nashville, TN) Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway is down to the final two events of the 2024 racing season, as the track will next open back up for the Saturday, October 5 Breast Cancer Awareness race followed by the All American 400 weekend, the first weekend in November.
In hopes of making the October 5 race a bigger success and as a thank you to all of this year’s teams, race officials have added extra prize money to the October 5 Pro Late Model race. The 100-lap race will now pay $5,000 to win and $500 to start, giving teams a significant increase in prize money at the event which will be the final tune-up before the All American 400 weekend.
The October 5 race runs during breast cancer awareness month, which aims to promote screening and prevention of breast cancer, which affects 2.3 million women worldwide. Known best for its pink theme color, the month features a number of campaigns and programs, conducted by groups ranging from breast cancer advocacy organizations to local community organizations to major retailers.
The event, which will also have the traditional Friday practice day, will also see the Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers Super Trucks, Street Stocks (5/8), Paschall Heating & Air Limited Late Models, Pure Stocks, Pest Doctor Front Runners, US Air Force Legends, and the CP Race Wear Bandoleros.
Lebanon, TN teenager, Dawson Sutton, currently leads the Pro Late Models standings by 36 over Corey Deuser. Chase Johnson, Bennie Hamlett, and Hunter Wright round out the current top five.
In the Paschall Heating & Air Limited Late Models, Johnathan Dishman leads the points over Peyton Hamlett by 17 markers. Dwayne Hudson, Jeff Templeton, and Dalton Hamlett are also in the top five.
The Street Stock standings are currently led by Michael Pannell of Portland, TN. Pannell is followed by Gus Moody, Travis Arms, Phillip McCord, and Chuck Barnes, Jr. The division has competed on the ¼-mile as well as the 5/8-mile this season.
Ray Gann, of Nashville, is atop the Pest Doctor Front Runner standings, leading by 38 over Josh Harrell. Tony Gann, Randell Waterston, and Roger Gann round out the top five.
The Nashville Pure Stock class has Chase Cohron, of Bowling Green, KY, on top. John Bradley, Terry Jackson, Michael Toth, and Jerry Hendrixson, Jr are in the top five.
In US Air Force Legends action, Kevin Rollins leads the Pro/Masters class over Oliver Cordell, Wayne Grubb, Robby Taylor, and Jessie Binkley. In Semi Pro action, Michael Crafton, Dylan Faulkner, and Bradley Swift are racing for the championship, while Max Olmstead, II is atop the Young Lion class.
The youngsters of the CP Race Wear Bandolero class are led by Colt Johnson, of Charlotte, NC. Landon Thrasher is just 10 points back, while James Faulkner, Jordan Bauer, and Mya Eatherly complete the top five.
Times will be regular at the October 5 event with grandstands opening at 3:00 PM and racing taking the green at 5:00.
