64th Season Opener Now Friday-Saturday, April 16-17th
Nashville, TN (Friday, March 19 2021) – With the 64th Season of Asphalt Racing Season Opener now less than one month away, officials with Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway have announced that the Local Racing weekend has gained national attention. On Friday and Saturday, April 16th and 17th, the US Legend Cars will invade Music City to wrap up nearly a week of racing in Middle Tennessee.
US Legend Cars International will begin their swing in the Volunteer State just north of Nashville, on I-65, at Veterans Motorplex at the Rim (formerly Highland Rim Speedway). The nationally recognized sanction will set-up shop at ‘The Rim’ on Tuesday through Thursday before teams make their way to The Fairgrounds Nashville on Thursday night.
For Nashville, these additions to the program produce an exciting three-day weekend for drivers and fans. The traditional Open Practice for Nashville’s Stock Car divisions will now take place on Thursday night during normal hours, 3:00 – 7:00 pm. Pit gates will open at 1:00 pm on Thursday for stock cars and Legends and Bandolero pit gates will open at 6:00 pm for hauler parking and check-in.
Friday night, April 16th, US Legends Cars and Bandoleros take center stage in the Music City, under the lights, on the quarter-mile oval at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. Multiple classes of Legends and Bandoleros will race in multiple feature events for round five of the Nashville Spring Series.
Saturday, April 17th is an enormous afternoon and evening of racing action. The US Legends and Bandoleros race their National Qualifier Features in addition to feature events for the Pest Doctor Front Runners, Pure Stocks, Street Stocks, Limited Late Models and Whelen Super Trucks. The Opening Weekend racing action is highlighted by a 100 lap Pro Late Model feature event.
Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway General Manager, Scott Menlen says the addition of US Legends International simply adds to the flair and enthusiasm of opening weekend.

“We’re packing in about as much racing action as physically possible on Opening Weekend. Our partners at US Legend Cars and Ken Joyce Racing have done a terrific job laying the foundation for this massive race weekend at America’s Favorite Short Track,” said Menlen. “We place a lot of value in the Legends and Bandolero program in this area and are proud to be a part of the accelerated growth through this new Legends and Bandolero Major.”
The race down I-65 in the heart of Tennessee kicks off the Major Events schedule for US Legend Cars. Teams from across the country will travel to Nashville, Tennessee in an attempt to conquer the spring’s only US Legend Cars Major.
