Nashville, TN (Wednesday, April 14, 2021) – The official opening race of the 2021 season at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway (NFS) has gathered even more national attention with the Starkey US Legends Major. The racing Friday and Saturday will feature approximately 100 Bandoleros and Legends competing for a chance to qualify for an INEX National event during Saturday’s main event.

The Starkey Nashville Spring Major for US Legend Cars begins tonight at Veteran’s Motorplex (Highland Rim) before teams head south to America’s Favorite Short Track for Friday night’s program. Last weekend during Nashville’s Media Day, over 20 Legends were on property preparing for this weekend’s races. Familiar names at NFS showed speed during the open practice sessions on the tricky quarter-mile oval.

2020 BH Holmes Construction Legends Champion, Bryson Shaffer topped the charts following the final practice session of the day last Saturday. Shaffer collected a season high two wins last season en route to his championship. Also showing speed during Saturday’s shakedown was Oliver Cordell; he came up short on his bid for a feature win last season, but just like last year, is fast and a contender already this season.

A few “ringers” have also put their name in the hat for the US Legend Major at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. 2020 Pro Late Model Champion, Dylan Fetcho wrapped up Media Day fourth fastest in the final session for Legends. Right with him was 2020 Pro Late Model Rookie of the Year, Hunter Wright. A former Legends Champion at Nashville, Wright is back in the division for one weekend only to try and capture the big win.

Another driver to watch this week is Nashville regular, Kevin Rollins. In Tuesday night’s open practice at Highland Rim, Rollins was fastest in his group during the final practice run. Rollins, a two time Limited Late Model Champion, was in contention for another Limited Late Model Championship last season. He also has a Legends Championship to his credit.

The Starkey US Legends Major at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway kicks off Friday night. Gates open at 5:30 PM with racing at 7:00 PM. Then on Saturday, grandstand gates open at 2:00 PM and Bandolero/Legend racing begins at 3:00 PM; the stock car portion of the show begins at 5:30 PM.
