Special from Speed51.com – It’s been more than five years since the Modifieds of Mayhem roared around Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.  That drought will end Saturday, as the open-wheel series returns to the Music City for a 50-lap feature.

The series last visited Nashville on May 7, 2016, when Jeff Letson took the checkered flag for the second of four wins during his 2016 championship season.  Another strong group of Modified racers will be at the Nashville Fairgrounds on Saturday as the tour makes its triumphant return to the historic 5/8-mile.

The championship battle is a tight one for the series after three races, with Johnny Walker, Bill Burba and Kevin Peel.  Walker won the series’ second race of the season at Crisp Motorsports Park in April, while Burba has a pair of top-five finishes, including a runner-up showing in the season-opening Hunt for the Bear 57 at Montgomery Motor Speedway.

Augie Grill, the winner of that race at Montgomery, is also on the list of entries for Saturday’s race at Nashville.  The Hunt for the Bear win was Grill’s 12th with the Modifieds of Mayhem, more than any other driver in series history.

There will be plenty of other Modified standouts in the field as well.  Ricky Moxley, Johnny Brazier, Doug Moff and Brandon Curren will be among the entrants in Saturday’s race.

Seven divisions of local racing will join the Modifieds of Mayhem on Saturday’s card at Nashville.  The Super Trucks will also race on the “big track” at Nashville prior to the Modifieds of Mayhem feature.  Before that, quarter-mile racing will feature the Bandoleros, Front Runners, Street Stocks, Legends, Pure Stocks and Limited Late Models.

Grandstands will open at 3 p.m. CT for fans wanting to watch the action at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, with racing beginning at 5 p.m. CT.  Fans unable to attend the event will be able to watch live on Speed51.TV by clicking here.
